Blak Douglas: Strength in Culture

  • Coffs Harbour Education Campus 363 Hogbin Drive Coffs Harbour, NSW, 2450 Australia (map)

The Dunghutti artist and Archibald Prize Winner admired nationwide for his brave political works. Blak Douglas will share his experience as a First Nations artist, working to bridge the cultural divide with powerful art that challenges us to think. Born in Blacktown and based in Redfern, Blak spent 20 years ‘taking a risk’ before taking out Australia’s most famous art prize. Blak also works with schools to inspire the next generation of brave creatives and will no doubt inspire our region’s youth.

Featuring songs and dance from the Giingan Gumbaynggirr Cultural Experience and insights from composer, musician and Gumbaynggirr language teacher, Birrugan Dunn-Velasco.
